Developing on from last year’s Flash based game, Swordfish Advertising approached us again. Shire Pharmaceutical had a conceptual requirement for the game to be given extra interactivity by developing it into a Wii game.
The game demonstrates the effectiveness of Xagrid in reducing elevated platelet counts – and how it can be used to assist at-risk thrombocythaemia patients who are intolerant to their current therapy. Within the game, players can target the platelets and destroy them.
We researched the technology required to build the game, eventually settling on Flash Action Script 3 and Bluetooth for the Wii controller to send data to a computer with IR sensor points for triangulation. Two weeks later (and after instructions to the client) visitors to the stand were armed with Wii controllers and were busy zapping rogue platelets, via three 50’inch plasma TV’s.
