The Future of Web Design

A conventional market place is governed by resource. Web design is significantly different. If the user wants and identifies a need, it just needs to be created. The future is therefore just to see what is needed.

A failing of current web owners is to cram too much onto their site. They are often too busy, difficult to navigate and have distracting adverts. Main traps are not getting over the proposal or USP clearly. Instead it is diluted and complicated with adverts and attempts to gain extra revenue.

To a greater extent, less is more. Greater functionality is gained by being careful, just look at the simplicity of Google. The benchmark must be traditional, faster mediums: switch on a TV and use a remote, turn on a radio and select a wavelength, flick through a paper or magazine. Even everyday tasks, open a door, pull open a drawer…

Currently corporate design is led from CEO level; it’s how they envisage their company persona being presented, rather than what the web viewer needs. The success of Facebook and Twitter is the speed of the interface and their simplicity.

Standardisation seems inevitable, from the font that simply works the best to general layout. Just look at mobile development, which generally complies with certain uniformity. Of course design options in web design will always be infinite, but as highlighted only a few options will work. A great help to web designers are the different frameworks for CSS development that come with the grid, layout and typography definitions that help the designer defining a user friendly layout.

As mentioned, social platforms such as Facebook are designed by professionals for interaction rather than beauty. Standard framework will become the norm, as with all technology, primitive becomes complicated, becomes simple.
